No funcionan ni mi teclado ni mi mouse al iniciar debian
"Rompí" Debian más rápido de lo que creía que podía.
Quería instalar un par de cosas y directamente pasé de lenny a squeeze para hacer un update de todos lo paquetes.
Primero tuve un problema con X que no iniciaba, pero lo pude solucionar.
Ahora tengo otro problema, creo que también es de X. No me funcionan ni mi teclado ni mi mouse cuando estoy en la pantalla de login, sin embargo sí funciona el touchpad (es una portátil).
Sin embargo, si entro en single user mode, puedo escribir sin problemas. Estuve viendo qué podía hacer un rato, pero me quedé varada después de poder iniciar X. Busqué en google pero no encontré mi problema (ni sabía bien cómo formularlo), lo más parecido que encontré fue uno que se diferenciaba en que no le andaba en ningún momento y de ninguna forma.
Acá paso la parte del teclado de mi xorg.conf:

A mi me paso lo mismo al pasar de lenny recien instalado a squeeze, estube varios dias rondando internet tratando de solucionarlo pero no logre, asi que mi solucion fue un tanto drastica, instale directamente squeeze, siempre tuve problemas pequeños y grandes al pasar de lenny a squeeze, por lo que ahora instalo directamente squeeze :)
Lamento no poder ayudarte, si se soluciona sera tarde para mi pero igual me quedo la espinita.

En sintesis te habria tenido que pedir un lspci mada mas.

En Squeeze hay un molesto baile de sistemas de configuración para teclado, ratón y touchpad que da más de un quebradero de cabeza. Inicialmente se comenzó a ignorar ciertos apartados de configuración de xorg.conf (a menos que lo indiques expresamente, las partes del archivo relacionadas con dispositivos de entrada son ignoradas). La nueva configuración de teclado y demás se tomaba en un principio de hal. Esto daba problemas con algunos tipos de touchpad y era necesario editar un xml con reglas para hal a fin de arreglarlo.
Hace un par de meses se ha descartado el uso de hal en favor de udev para este tipo de configuración, por lo que es necesario comprobar que se tienen los archivos de reglas correctos para udev.
Yo comprobaría primero si tienes hal y udev instalados y funcionando (sería lo más normal), y a continuación buscar en internet información de configuración de udev y hal aplicada a tu modelo de portátil/teclado concreto.

udev funciona bien aparentemente, pero hal me tira un error de dbus.
Me mandé a hacer un dpkg-reconfigure hal a ver si se arreglaba algo (?) pero me tiró:
Reloading system message bus config... Failed to open connection to system message bus: Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: no such file or directory.invoke.rc.d: intscript dbus, action "force-reload" failed.
Can't start Hardware abstract layer -please ensure dbus is running.
Traté de reinstalar dbus, hal, y udev pero sigue igual. Estoy buscando en google pero después busco más porque me tengo que ir.
Sugerencias?

Con 5 años el ordenador no es demasiado viejo y no debe darte ningún problema de configuración.
Reinstalé... sigue sin funcionar, pero no me tira más aquel error.
Mi pc es una Toshiba Satellite A10-S177. No encuentro nada, voy a seguir buscando.
Edito: Si le doy a reconfigure a dbus antes de a hal, no me tira ese error. Si es al revés, sí.
Ustedes creen que debería hacer "la gran Windows" y reinstalar Debian?
Hay alguna forma de reinstalar Debian sin tener que borrar /home (está en partición separada) y reusarlo como el /home del nuevo SO? Estoy viendo que con Ubuntu se puede hacer, voy a tener que probar con Debian pero tengo un poco de miedo de tocar mal y borrar todo, jaja. Pero si no me equivoco Ubuntu usa un "gestor" (no sé si se dice así) de particiones que al menos a la vista es diferente.
Si se puede directamente reinstalo y es menos lío. La próxima tendré más cuidado con qué toco.

Al reinstalar ,designa la partición raíz que ya tenes , y la misma /home ,solo que ,cuando indicas la /home , tenes que indicar " conservar los datos " , entonces va a tomar esa particion como tu /home ,sin borrar el contenido .
Anota bien que es cada particion !
